Alberta Foothills - Dusk

Acrylic
Framed
22 x 26"

I had a special place between Cochrane and Sundre, where I would stay in my cozy trailer awaiting my family and friends to arrive.  This painting came from a photo that I took as I pulled over to capture the glow of the sunset with our foothills.

My great, great, great grandfather was the engraver for J.M. W. Turner.  I believe as the family artists expanded with each generation, we all have a bit of Turner's work in our paintings.  My dad has often commented how my skies look like Turner's.  Something I did not quite understand till later on in my years as I expanded my art with large skies when it came to my landscape pieces.

J.M.W. Turner
J.M.W. Turner does not appear to be a single person, but rather refers to the collaboration between Turner and one or more members of the Goodall family of artists, most notably the engraver Edward Goodall.  Edward Goodall was a prominent steel line engraver who extensively engraved many of William Turner's paintings, and William was a personal friend of the Goodall family.

Acrylic Painting Class March 31st!

This painting we will be working on canvas panel.  You will learn how to do petals, leaves and an abstract background.  No painting or drawing experience required. Includes all materials, snacks and refreshments.

Alcohol Inks on Ceramic Tile Class March 30th!

Come join a fun time using alcohol inks on ceramic tile.  Tulips!  (I am so eager for spring to be here!)  There is a theme in March with my
classes.
You can use this piece as a wall hanging, hot plate or even to serve cheese and crackers.  Let the inks do their thing.  You might just end up with a beautiful flowing
abstract.  You will play on coaster tiles before moving to the larger
ceramic tile.  You can also choose your colour scheme.  Lots of
options with this class.

Fun Painting for April!

Mark your calendars.  This painting will be taught on April 7th!

Upcoming Acrylic Painting Class!

This is a fun piece!  The background texture was using a Starbucks gift card.  Then I used chipboard swirls for the table cloth pattern.  There will be templates for the coffee mugs and you can pick your words:  Latte, Coffee, CafĂ©, Espresso.  Many options to play with.  The key to this painting is capturing the highlights.
